The Perfect Hummingbird Feed Mix PDF Print E-mail
Hummingbirds are fun to watch in your garden or yard, while the best way to attract them will always be colorful plants which produce lots of nectar, hummingbird feeders will help attract the birds even in the center of a city. You will be surprised how easy it is to attract the hummingbirds, and, once they are regular visitors to your garden it is fun, and sometimes exciting, to watch the beautiful birds.

Hummingbirds love a feed mix to have sugary water that is refilled regularly. Like any bird, if you make the feeders a reliable source of food the birds will get to know it, before long they will be constent visitors. With luck they will bring some friends. It is important to keep other animals and inscets away from the feeder, otherwise the hummingbirds may not to use it. Ants are the main insects you will want to try and keep off the feeder, as they are attracted to the sugar water. You may deter them by surrounding the feeder with water or by placing the feeder well off the ground.

For a good hummingbird feeder mix, use about four parts water and one part sugar. This is a very sugary mix, which is exactly what nectar from a plant is. Never let your feeder go empty so that it becomes a normal source of food for the birds, and they can rely on it, plus you must be patient. The birds may find the feeder immediately but sometimes it may take longer, in the end they will almost always arrive.
